Education system India

Education! What is the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear this word? School, college or some other educational institute, right. Even though that is how our mind is programmed, education In true sense has always meant to be a combination of formal and informal approach. The educational institutes assist us with systematic professional approach with defined syllabus and goals, whereas the informal education that our children get at home is based on real life experiences and combination of exposure that various family members bring along and varies from family to family.

Challenging times always come with an opportunity to explore something new and assist us in identifying our hidden potentials, so did COVID -19. The change that it has brought to education system in India would have been far from implementation if situations weren’t what they are today. The state and central government have coordinated closely to have the same implemented in the earliest possible time. The thought of online education earlier crossed every one’s mind only in regards to higher education or part time courses, now this seems to be interesting our younger ones as well. They are now exposed to certain electronics as a utility device and not just gaming device. These times have brought new learning experiences to all involved, be it teachers, students or parents. It is interesting to see how these sections have collaborated together to accept the change. Streamlining of this process took time and there is still a huge scope of improvement, in terms of making this system hassle free, user friendly and approachable to all classes of society. The matter of concern remains for the people from lower middle class and the under privileged ones.

The education system in all needs to focus differently on right to education and the associated services. It is no more just about the class rooms, halls, play grounds etc. Cost efficiency needs to kick in, need of automation is to be analyzed to smoothed the process of delivery and accessibility, more than one channel to pass on education needs to be available to suit various class of society. Lack of timely action will result in increased gaps between learning graphs of various sections of society, which would result in biased distribution of resources and opportunities. It is not only for the Govt. to fill these gaps, but for corporates and larger organizations to come together and focus on right to education and its continuation. It is only through collective efforts that we shall be able to achieve goals in the interest of nation. The way we handle the situation today will not only set an example for the current generation but generations to come as well. The exposure that we give to our kids today is going to impact their thought process and decision making. The current situation has the capability to make them stronger and wiser only if both formal and informal sources of education work towards the right direction, the goal is now to make kids physically and emotionally ready for future. Future lies in how we manage to educate or at-least make a larger audience aware on emotional intelligence.

Emotional intelligence will be amongst the most appreciated skill set that people would carry and look for while employing others. We shall discuss this further in the next blog to come.
